Congratulations!

You just said YES!! Now, where to begin.

The first thing to think about after the whirlwind of congrats slows, is setting the date for your special day. It can be a difficult decision.

Here are 5 things to consider:

1.) Time of year and the weather.

Most importantly if you are considering getting married outside you will need to think about the chances of inclement weather and having a plan B. Too hot or too cold and how to accommodate your guests!

2.) Set a Date Far Enough Out

Setting a date far enough out so that you can plan stress free. One consideration is that if you are going to order your wedding dress, many dresses take 4-6 months to order. Other vendors may be booked out as well, so give yourself enough time.

3.) Pole Family & Friends

Family and friends who will play an important role in your day – make sure to pole them for open dates.

4.) Out of town guests.

You might consider the important people that will travel to help you celebrate and what time of year would be easiest for them to travel, book hotels and stay to participate in all the fun.

5.) Consider Honeymoon Details

Finally, you might consider your honeymoon destination and if the time of year might make a difference. Avoiding hurricane season for a beach honeymoon or cruise or scheduling for best chances for snow if skiing is your destination are important considerations.

Oak + Ivy can accommodate any date you choose. There are stunning outdoor locations under a canopy of beautiful mature oak trees, or the use of the charming French Country inspired white barn for the perfect indoor location, or the magnificent pavilion with a stately fireplace that offers a taste of both.

Although selecting the “I do date” can be a little challenging the thought process will result in the perfect choice! Once that date is selected all other things can fall into place! Get your calendars ready and get started!
